Gill is a Relate-trained counsellor and has more than ten years' experience working with couples and individuals:
- where there may have been an affair
- where they have grown apart
- parenting issues
- sex issues
- where relationships from the past are impacting on the present.
Gill is a registered member of the BACP and a fully qualified relationship counsellor, holding qualifications from Leeds Met University and the Relate Institute (the University of Hull). She is also listed in the UK Counselling Directory and the BACP’s ‘It’s good to talk’ directory of UK counsellors.
She works in an integrative way, drawing on a variety of counselling approaches to suit the client’s situation, including ‘systemic’, ‘psychodynamic’ and ‘narrative therapies’. She works with both couples and individuals and focus on building a relationship between the client and the counsellor; providing a safe, non-judgemental and respectful space where issues can be discussed and explored. Gill worked for Relate and now works in private practice at Listening Room Harrogate
As well as couples counselling, Gill also holds qualifications in counselling children and young people, who may be struggling with their relationships with parents, friends or other family members. She has worked extensively with children, teenagers and young people at the Relate centre and at schools in North Yorkshire and Leeds. Gill holds an 'Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate' for her work with children.
